    Start time: January, June, September each year
    Duration of studying abroad: 6 to 9 months (depending on the English level) 
    Suitable for : Students who have graduated from the second or third year in high school, and want to study for the undergraduate degrees in the UK.

  • Undergraduate application

    Start time: January and September each year
    Duration of studying abroad: 3 years in most cases,   and 4 or 5 years for some majors .
    Suitable for : Students who have completed the UG      Foundation programmes in the UK, or obtained the       Chinese college entrance examination scores or           completed the first year in recognised Chinese              universities. If students want to apply for the last year in UG study (or top-up courses), they are often required   to complete the college deploma first.

    Duration of studying abroad: 12 months for taught masters, 24 months for research masters) 
    Suitable for: Students who have completed bachelor's degrees, pre-masters programme from British              universities or bachelor's degrees from the recognised Chinese universities.

    Duration of study: Usually 3 to 4 years for a full-time doctoral student, 6 to 8 years for a part time doctoral     student 
    Suitable for : Generally, students are required to           complete master's degrees from British or Chinese        universities. If a student has obtained UG degree with    top grades in a UK university, he or she can directly       apply for the doctoral study.

Student Visa

1. An offer letter issued by its sponsor (an educational institution in the UK) must be   provided. CAS is a special electronic reference number issued to students by British    universities. A CAS directly corresponds to a course and is valid for 6 months,               including personal information of applicants, course and university . 
2. Chinese residents applying for UK student visas must hold sufficient funds to prove  that they are able to pay the tuition fees of the courses and living expenses in the UK. The minimum financial requirements vary according to the location and course of the university attended. The minimum financial requirement is calculated as tuition + 9  months of living expenses -the part of tuition fees or deposites paid for the course. 
3. Tuberculosis test, which must be carried out at an approved screening clinic to ensure that there is no tuberculosis infection before applying for the visa.

If applicants are applying from outside the UK, it will take around 15 working days to     receive the result of their student visa application.
If applicants are applying from within the UK, it will take about 8 weeks to receive the   results of their student visa applications. 
Applicants can pay an additional fee to speed up the processing time of visa .

    A  国际大一课程是由英国大学指定授权合作的教育集团在大学校园内为国际学生开设的大学一年级课程。由于其入学要求比大学自己开设的大一课程要宽松，特别适合（1）在国内完成大学或大专一年级后，转到英国读本科的同学；（2）本科预科成绩不太理想的同学；（3）有些国际大一课程可以接受国内高三毕业的学生，这样可以省去一年的预科。成功完成国际大一课程后，可以进入相应大学的本科二年级就读。

硕士预科（Pre-Masters Programme）

    A  顾名思义，硕士预科是为就读英国硕士学位开设的预备或桥梁课程。主要针对这几类学生1) 完成国内大学本科和学士学位，但成绩达不到，或没有获得学士学位，从而无法申请到理想大学的硕士；2）国内大专毕业或其他等同于大专的学历如英国高等文凭(HND)，没有本科和学士学位的学生；3)在英国大学读完本科，学位成绩不够（如三等或普通等级学位）的学生。

    在顺利完成硕士预科后，达到相应大学的硕士录取要求，可以成功就读硕士学位课程。请注意，硕士预科帮助学生达到英国大学本科最后一年的同等水平，用于申请硕士，它不是一个学历。

    极个别英国名校的硕士预科要求学生完成中国本科并取得学士学位，如UCL的国际硕士预科。

博士申请

  • Q  什么是PhD博士?

    A   PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) 是以研究为目的的研究型学位。英国博士学位一般是3-4年，大部分人都是4年毕业。一般情况下，有两种方式去完成一个PhD学位：

    大部分的英国博士课程，都需要你自己寻找一个研究课题，然后你自己独立完成整个研究项目，以突破人类知识的边界。你的博士导师起到监督和指导的作用。（社科、文科、商科偏多）
    也有部分英国博士课程，是需要你在一个已经存在的大的研究课题里做一部分小的研究项目。通常是你的博士导师（你的Boss）已经有这个大的研究项目，然后招有能力的博士生帮助他完成其中的小课题。当然，你还是需要独立研究，在你的导师的监督下，独立完成他分配给你的小项目，突破人类知识的边界。（理工科偏多）
    一般情况下，你需要在博士的第一年提交一份 FIRST YEAR REPORT，看你第一年的研究情况。如果你的FIRST YEAR REPORT能够通过的话，你可以继续留下来读剩下的2-3年，最后提交你的博士论文，组后参加答辩，看是否能拿到英国博士学位。如果你第一年的REPORT没过的话，一般情况下，你可以拿一个MPHIL的学位，然后离开。

  • Q  英国的授课型硕士之后如何申请英国的博士？

    A   研究型硕士(Research degree)和Mphil是不是同一个类型的硕士?他们指的是不是硕博连读的类型,属于博士预科?如果读完授课型硕士想继续读博士,是不是要进行一个转换,从taught转到research?如果有,这个转换是怎么样的?还是说可以直接申请博士就读?如果本科(Postgraduate)毕业直接申请研究型硕士是不是有一定困难？

    A:研究型硕士就是Mphil，只是有些学校叫法不太一样。一般情况是，有本科学历就可以直接申请博士，其次是拿到Mphil的offer，因为前者一般都有奖学金，后者比较少，但博士的第一年和Mphil是一样的，就等于是直接念博士可以省掉Mphil的一年。授课型硕士申请博士是可以的，但必须有导师要才行，另外就是录取后第一年还是注册成mphil，一般一年之后通过测评才会正式转成博士。

  • Q  申请英国博士的成绩要求

    A   1. 学业成绩
    申请英国的博士学校除了会看我们同学们的研究生时期的成绩外，还会看同学们的本科成绩。所以想要读博士的同学们一定要早做打算，从本科阶段就开始重视课程成绩。一般情况下要想申请英国的博士项目需要申请者的学术成绩在二等一学位以上，这就相当于国内的80分以上。如果是想申请排名靠前的名校的话，那成绩一般需要达到85分以上。
            2. 语言成绩
    申请英国的博士项目对申请者的英语成绩也是有比较高的要求的，一般最低也需要申请的雅思达到6.5+，而且学校越好要求越高，如果想申请排名靠前的名校的话可能需要达到7.0+。要知道也许很多同学雅思成绩可以达到6.5，但是如果想要把雅思成绩刷到7.0以上就很难了。所以准备去英国留学的同学们一定要尽早准备语言考试，这样可以给以后刷高分留下比较充足的时间。

  • Q  何时申请英国博士？

    A    一般PhD都有好几个入学的时间，每个学校每个项目都不一样。有些是秋季入学，有些是春季入学，有些是随时入学。
    如果你想没有间隔直接入学就读PhD，可以在本科最后一年/研究生那一年的9月一开学就开始写研究计划，套词，在秋季完成申请，在春季拿到Offer。根据你本科/研究生毕业的时间，待第二年夏季/秋季你拿到了符合Offer的成绩后，就可以在第二年秋季/第三年春季入学就读博士（比如本科六七月就毕业，九月就可以直接读博；研究生九月十月才毕业，那就只能等到第二年春季入学）。
    以上情况可能会让你在学期期间非常紧张，边学习边准备申请英国博士，适合能力非常突出的学生。当然，也有很多学生是有间隔申请PhD的，即在完成本科/研究生学业后，再在秋天递交申请博士，第二年秋季再入学，这样子可以减轻自己在学期期间的压力。

  • Q  什么是学生签证?

    A  前往英国学习的国际学生必须持有有效的英国学生签证(student route visa)才能合法在英国当地完成课程的学习。学生签证由有执照的担保方例如大学，学院和初级教育机构等提供。若16周岁至17周岁的国际学生想要在英国私校 (independent school/private school) 就读，则需要申请儿童学生签证 (child student visa) 。

    学生签证申请所需材料
    1.学习录取确认函 (Confirmation Acceptance of Studies, 简称CAS) 。根据英国边境管理局 (UKBA)规定，从2010年2月22日期，所有准备申请学生签证赴英国学习的学生，必须提供一份有其担保方(英国境内的教育机构)出具学习录取通知函。CAS是英国大学发给学生的一个特别电子参考号码，一个CAS直对应一门课程，有效期为6个月，内容包含申请者的个人信息和即将就读的课程和院校等信息。
    2.申请英国学生签证的中国居民必须持有足够的资金来证明自己有能力在英国支付课程学费和生活费，最低资金要求将根据就读学校的所在地和课程而变化。最低资金要求的计算公式为学费+9个月生活费-已支付的课程部分学费或押金。自2020年12月1日开始，非伦敦地区每月最低生活费涨至1023英镑，伦敦地区每月最低生活费涨至1334英镑。
    3.肺结核检测，根据英国移民局(UKVI)规定，从2013年12月31日开始，如果申请者是中国居民并打算申请赴英停留超过6个月， 那么必须在指定的检验机构进行肺结核检测并确保未感染肺结核，才可以申请签证。 这样一来，不管是去英国读预科、本科，硕士还是博士都必须接受这项体检 。

    赴英学习的国际生都需要像英国移民局(UKVI)支付学生签证申请费。从英国境外申请学生签证的费用为348英镑。从英国境内延长或从其他签证转换成学生签证的费用为475英镑。

    2.医疗附加费
    若课程超过6个月的境外申请人以及任何课程长度的境内申请人需要向英国国民保健服务(NHS) 支付医疗附加费(IHS fee)。医疗费加费为470英镑/每年。

    若申请者从英国境外申请，大约需要15个工作日左右的时间才能收到学生签证申请的结果。
    若申请者从英国境内申请，大约需要8周的时间才能收到学生签证申请的结果。
